Practice Manager
I am seeking an experienced Practice Manager to join a small, well-respected professional firm. This is a varied and senior role responsible for overseeing the smooth day-to-day running of the office and supporting the Partners across finance, HR, operations and compliance.
Duties will include oversight of all financial activities including budgeting, cashflow forecasting, management accounts, expense analysis, GST and regulatory returns, and preparation of annual financial statements ready for audit. You will supervise the Finance Manager and oversee payroll, billing, credit control, client money handling and reconciliations. The role also involves preparing papers for and attending Partner meetings, including quarterly strategy and annual remuneration meetings.
In addition, you will manage HR processes throughout the employee lifecycle, including recruitment support, inductions, appraisals, benefits administration, absence monitoring and providing day-to-day guidance to support staff. Operational responsibilities include premises management, liaison with building agents and suppliers, insurance renewals, health and safety compliance, and maintaining security procedures. Working alongside outsourced IT providers, you will also assist with the firm’s IT systems, asset registers and staff software training.
Previous experience in a Practice Manager or senior office management role is essential, along with strong financial management skills, excellent organisational ability and the confidence to work closely with senior stakeholders. A proactive approach and the ability to prioritise a varied workload are key.
